Christine Hargreaves, Schools Worker
From a very young age, when I started school on my 5th birthday, I decided I wanted to be a teacher. This ambition was ultimately realised when I initially trained as a nursery nurse (NNEB) before later qualifying as a primary school teacher. My background therefore is in education, having taught children from nursery to Year 3, over a long career.
I was fortunate to have been brought up in a loving Christian home and have attended church for as long as I can remember – becoming a Sunday School teacher in my late teens. I have been responsible for children’s work for many years in a number of churches. I have always considered it both a privilege and of great importance to let children know about the Bible and about the love of Jesus Christ in our lives.
In January 2017 I was appointed to the position of ‘Schools Worker’ for ICE Torbay. I felt God was calling me to this role. It has been both a joy and a blessing to work with Nick, running lunchtime clubs in a number of schools. I feel I am using the skills God has given me to further His work in this area. The team has recently expanded further, with the appointment of Hazel in January 2018. I know that God has great plans for us in the future as we continue to expand our work within primary schools.
